I am Johanna Ilander, visual designer based in Helsinki, Finland. I’m an illustrator, children book author and graphic designer. I have studied textile design (MA) at the University of Art and Design Helsinki and graphic design (BA) at Aalto University of Arts, Design and Architecture.
In my illustrations I love to create little stories and quite often you can find a funny, daily moment captured in the pictures. My style is playful, feminine and almost always includes a hint of humour. I usually draw by hand and finish the work with a computer. Because of my passion for patterns and textures I use them a lot in my illustrations. They give the wanted liveliness and unique touch for my pictures.
